Back to My Photography Roots: Returning to Landscape Photography After a Year Away

Nice to see you again, old girl. It's been a while since I last visited these pages. Over the past year, my photography journey has taken me in a very different direction...

It's back to landscape photography for me, but this time with a big difference. A year away from the landscape has changed both the photographer and the way he sees the world through a lens.

Lovely to Be Back…

Helping build a YouTube channel from the ground up to monetisation over the past year has taught me a tremendous amount. From improving my videography skills with the Fujifilm X-T3 and learning the art of video editing, to understanding what it really takes to grow an audience and build a successful channel, the experience has been both challenging and rewarding. Reaching monetisation in 2026 is no easy task, but the journey has equipped me with valuable skills that I now bring back to my true passion: landscape photography and videography.

Rediscovering the Joy of Solo Photography

One of the greatest pleasures of returning to landscape photography is having complete control over my own time once again. I can choose where I go, when I go, and how long I spend there, following the light, the weather, and my own creative instincts. The more effort and enjoyment I invest in the work, the more I will personally gain from it. After a busy and demanding year, that freedom feels like pure bliss.

Starting Again, But Not From Scratch

Looking back at my old YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@TimHillPhotography -, I can see plenty of enthusiasm but very little direction. The videos may be amateurish by today's standards, but they represent the start of a journey and a passion that never really disappeared. Over the past year, I've gained valuable experience in videography, editing, storytelling, audience building, and what it takes to grow a channel from nothing to something meaningful. Now, with a renewed focus on landscape photography and videography, I'm genuinely excited to start again. This time, armed with better equipment, far more knowledge, and a clearer vision, I'm looking forward to seeing just how far I can take the channel from this day forward.

The Adventure Begins Again

As I close this chapter and begin the next, I do so with a renewed sense of excitement and purpose. The past year has taught me a great deal, but it has also reminded me where my true passion lies: being outdoors with a camera, capturing the beauty of the world around us. From dramatic seascapes and peaceful landscapes to colourful sunrises, glowing sunsets, and even the occasional view from the air, this website and YouTube channel will become a home for the images, videos, stories, and adventures that inspire me.

I'd love for you to join me on the journey. Whether you've been following my work for years or you've only just discovered Tim Hill Photography, I hope you'll enjoy watching both the website and YouTube channel grow from humble beginnings into something special. There will be new photographs, new videos, new locations, and undoubtedly a few challenges along the way—but that's all part of the adventure.

So, here's to fresh starts, new horizons, and a camera pointed firmly towards the future. I look forward to sharing the journey with you.
